Event Recorder

What is an Event Recorder?

An event recorder is activated during an event of palpitations/chest pain or symptoms you would like your doctor to look at your heart rhythm for.

The machine is usually used for a period of 2 to 4 weeks and it will record an ECG which will indicate the rhythm of your heart during activation.

What to expect

You need to carry the recorder with you at all times as these symptoms often occur when we least expect it. When you feel a symptom, remove the machine from the pouch and activate by following the directions below.

  1. Press the ON button (small grey button).
  2. Hold the chest electrode up to your bare skin just below your left nipple.
  3. Press the START button.
  4. The unit beeps every second while recording. Recording lasts for 30 seconds.
  5. At the end of the recording, you will hear 4 beeps.
  6. To turn the machine off, press the ON/OFF button, holding it down for 2 seconds.
